The Learning Philanthropy Framework has six interconnected components that form the foundation of effective learning philanthropy. Each segment is broken down into subcomponents that provide a more detailed picture of what this looks like in practice.
Learning Practices are the activities to generate and apply knowledge. This includes Internal Learning Processes within teams and across the foundation; Learning with Partners together with grantees; and Ecosystem Learning to contribute to the broader field.
Accelerating Conditions make sustained learning possible within an organization. Learning Leadership, Learning Culture, Structure & Resources collectively create the safety, space, and systems needed to turn Learning Practices into actionable outcomes.
You can use The Learning Philanthropy Framework to:
- Establish a shared language: build a common vocabulary and understanding of learning across your organization.
- Focus learning growth: identify the specific areas where your team or foundation need to strengthen their current learning practices.
- Diagnose current conditions: name the internal conditions that either enable or inhibit your organization’s ability to learn.
